The next ghost was Victoria Kneebone, who popped out of her coffin.

She told of her husband, teamster Andrew Kneebone, and how they came to be married.

More about the Kneebones and family life at Bridgeport.

Suddenly a man is thrown from the loft and swings by his neck!

The crowd has time to react and gasps as the man swings.

It's just a dummy of Yankee Jim, villain of the past,
but the sudden shock was a suitable end to this Bridgeport Ghost Story.

The crowd filed out of the barn as Yankee Jim hung ghoulishly from the rafter.

Horse-drawn wagon rides were popular all day.

This coachman got children involved in the history of transportation along the Virginia Turnpike and across the covered bridge.

Yes, yes, tell us what you think.

Clydesdales appear out of the sun along the dusty Virginia Turnpike.

Sunbeams add to the drama of the exciting ride.

Passing by the old barn on return from the covered bridge (closed temporarily for repairs - when the state gets the money).

Passengers hop off to make room for the next group.

This time I hopped aboard to see and feel the ride first hand, and to photograph this beautiful mother and daughter.
The mother told me the striking red dress is from relatives in Spain.

The costumed coachman again kept the children entertained.

No smile from the pretty girl in red, but a striking profile from her mother.

All smiles now, when grandmother and mother join in.  A joy to behold.
The Bring Back the Ghosts Fall Festival was indeed a successful and heartwarming event.
